I have to say that Changi Airport with its cathedral like deparature halls (from what i saw) just confirms the view that Singapore is a modern, bustling country in my opinion. Hmm.... i wonder what foreigners think of England when they touch down at terminal 4 in Heathrow, nothing too encouraging probably.
Anyways getting back on topic, i was expecting to walk into a wall of humidity when i finally walked out the doors and into the evening air. Just seemed to be like a normal night in Spain or Portugal, or maybe it was just the jet lag clouding my perceptions of heat
Climbing into a blue taxi, known as a comfort taxi, i headed off to my home for the next 2 months....the VIP Hotel (i feel special already!). Heading along the East Coast Parkway (ECP), the CBD begins to loom into my view from over the horizon.
Arriving at the VIP, which is situated close to Orchard Road (main shopping street) and Newton Circus (Hawker style eating place). It's a cozy place surrounded by high rise appartments (very common buildings in Singapore), not too expensive, good for location.
Quick shower, then off to meet some of the people i'll be working with at a place called the Handle Bar. Interesting place where people can ride their motorbikes inside and right up to the bar! A biker's haven that serves western food with some surprises like tiger beer flavoured chicken, basically a chicken cooked with a beer can shoved up it arse. The walls of the inside were covered in decorations / paraphernalia quite like a Hard Rock Cafe feel, this place is definetly worth a look for anyone coming over here.
Jet lag kicking in so off to actually get some sleep for the first time in nearly 2 days, got lots of exploring to do so need my rest!!!
