When we arrived at Pamukkale most on the truck were more interested in finding internet or food rather than visiting the nearby travertines and ruins but I was keen to go so took off on my own. The travertines are large white ledges that water used to flow over. Most of the water is gone now (although it still streams down the path) but it was still an incredible sight - like nothing I've seen before. At the top is an old roman spa resort which meant exploring more ruins.

Speaking of ruins, our next stop was the ancient roman town of Ephesus. While I'd pretty much had my fill of Roman ruins by that point, Ephesus is quite well preserved so I did still enjoy the couple hours we spent there.

Our final stop before the truck trip ended in Istanbul was the Gallipoli Peninsula - site of a huge battle between the Allied forces and the Turks in WWI. We took a tour around many of the cemetaries, memorials, and battle sites.
