Arrived in Surfers friday night around 5pm and had Gareth meet me at the station.  Him and his wife live right across the street (and only blocks away from the main part of town and beach) so was quite easy.  Went out for dinner with them then back to their place for some drinking before deciding to hit up the local casino.  A few blackjack hands later and I was up 150 bucks which did well to pay for the next few days.

Saturday was spent down the coast just looking around different areas of the beach.  We made our way back to their place for a bbq dinner, then went out on the town.  Ended up in a downstairs club with Jess and a few of her friends and danced the night away.

Woke up to a hangover Sunday morning, but we pulled ourselves together and set off to a local wildlife park.  I'd rather see animals in the wild, but since I don't have much time in Oz it's unlikely I'll get a chance to see many, so it was good to kill a bunch of birds with one stone.  Highlights included the koalas, crocs, platypus, and cassowaries - a large flightless bird similar to an emu only they have a rock solid plate sticking out of their head.  No one was keen to drink so we decided to catch Iron Man 2 after grabbing a delicious Thai dinner.

Monday was a public holiday so after another nice sleep in we took off north this time to see the real rich neighbourhoods.... multimillion dollar homes on man made islands with gorgeous cars in the driveways.  A quiet night before heading north on the bus the next morning.
