We then did some shopping on the Miracle Mile
. Ellen got a few hoodies for school!! But soon Greg & Andy were bored so we went around the Millennium Park which has the giant bean that you can see the reflection of the high rise buildings in. We walked around Navy Pier and had a famous Chicago deep pizza pie!! We ordered a large between all of us. It took 45 minutes to cook and was huge. We couldn't eat it all and that's not like us!!! Afterwards we went to a Harry Potter Exhibition. It was excellent and Ellen & Greg really enjoyed it. We moved to a Holiday Inn for the 2nd night as it was closer to the motorway for us to make an early start back to Canada. We set the alarm for 5am our earliest start all holiday!! There are a lot of miles to cover tomorrow. Our aim is to get back to Ottawa at about 10.30pm. The kids will then have Sunday and Monday to recover before starting their new schools on Tuesday.
The end of the trip is near !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
We arrived in Chicago late and checked into our hotel the Inter-Continental, Downtown. It was very, very posh and we felt undressed walking in wearing shorts and t-shirts! After seeing our room we headed for the nearby McDonald's for a meal (couldn't afford the prices in the hotel!) Got up early next morning and back to McDonald's for breakfast! We could afford the room because of our points but not the food or drink!! For egg on toast $28 everything was unbelievable. When you have to get your car valet parked you know that its not going to be a cheap stay !!!!!!! Next morning we booked a tour with s sightseeing company that took you around and showed you the sights. It was a dry day (luckily for us as apparently it had rained for the last week!) but it was very cloudy and when we arrived at the Sears building we didn't go to the top because of the low clouds. We then jumped back on the bus and went to the John Hancock building up to the 85th floor which some say has better views and its free!!! We were literally in the clouds and could see nothing out of the windows!
