We woke up in Beijing at 4am and made our way to the airport. We had three options for getting to Tokyo - Delta, JAL and ANA. Since Delta was leaving first, we went to Terminal 2. Bad move - the check-in agent told us that the flight was overbooked so we basically had two chances - nil and buckleys. So we gathered our bags and headed to Terminal 3.

ANA and JAL weren't any better. We decided to register with ANA since they had more seats - few as there were - than JAL. The only problem was that the flights left at the same time so if we couldn't get onto one flight, it would be too late to get onto the other. Fortunately the Staff Travel gods were smiling on us and we made it onboard ANA. We gave the check-in girls a packet of Tim Tams to show our appreciation.

The flight was great, but once we got to Tokyo (hot!) we then had the same predicament - Qantas or Jetstar? Qantas would fly directly to Sydney (Jetstar went via the Gold Coast), however we would be in economy (the shame!). As it turned out we didn't have a choice as Qantas was heavily overbooked also, and both these flights left at the same time too. So we waited around for eight hours until we were finally on our way.

I can't comment much about the flight. I had two glasses of red, fell asleep and then we landed.

Waiting around in Coolangatta wasn't much fun but we got home and that's what matters. It was just great to be back on Aussie soil. We didn't get on the first flight but considering how few seats there were we were happy when we did. Ted got to ride in the jump seat too.

As I sit here now writing, trying to stay awake, surrounded by bills, bags of laundry and a slightly heavier dog, it does seem somewhat weird that we were on a train tearing through the Russian countryside only two weeks ago. Thanks to everyone for following our adventures. I hope you enjoyed it as much as we did. Hopefully we'll be going on another adventure in no time.

Hi Guys!

It's now several days after you arrived home. I'm just catching up on the last of your blogs. First, how marvellous it's been to read the stories of your travels. Second, congrat's on an awesome effort - both the travel and the travel writing! You should do this for a living. Erm, I guess you do, sorta - EAA & JQ are pretty similar, right? LOL! Anyway, looking forward to catching up with you both soon, now that I'm back on Oz soil, too. Hugs! W :)
