Welcome to our blog. Never before have I felt a case of performance evaluation as I do now. The last thing I want is to bore anyone with details of our holiday (like a 1970's slide night), so I'll try and make my posts brief and interesting.
After the previous day's tearful farewell (to Tiger), neither Ted nor I managed to get more than 4 hours sleep before having to wake up early for our connecting flight to the Gold Coast. After a disgraceful $58 cab fare from the Shire, we lugged our newly-bought-off-eBay backpacks around until being able to check in. Even though it was only just over an hour flight, we still slept. Then we scored big time when we were upgraded to Star Class (poor man's business class for any non-Australians) for our flight to Tokyo. It helps when you know a Jetstar CSM
We were also able to use the Business Lounge beforehand which was really appreciated. The flight was damn long too. Gone are the days when I was still young enough to fly 22 hours to London. Now I'm lucky to stay awake on a Sydney-Melbourne.
When we arrived, we joined the Jetstar crew on their transfer bus as we were staying at their hotel. The crew included Lyn Clarke, who some from my work will remember from his QantasLink days. I hadn't seen Lyn in so long, that it seems like a distant memory when him and I were flailing around in a swimming pool for wet drills during our Ground School days.
Tomorrow we head to Paris. Haven't been there since my Contiki tour in 1996. Hopefully it hasn't aged a bit (like me).
Take care everyone,
Andrew and Ted
