The main reason for coming to Europe was for our delayed honeymoon.

Being in the middle of building a house at the time we decided we didn't want to go away after our wedding and that to go to celebrate the 1st anniversary made more sense.

As it panned out we were in Ceske Budejovice for the 1st anniversary and what better way to celebrate than to take in a tour of the Budvar Brewery (yes, I do have an awesome wife!).

We shared the English language tour with a couple from England and about 20 school kids from Spain, go figure!

The tour went for about an hour and included a tasting of their krausened lager from the maturation tanks which only gets sent to a handful of local restaurants due to it's very limited shelf life of about 6 days.

Heaven, it is located at Karolíny Světlé 4, 370 21 České Budějovice!!

We followed up the tour with a krausened lager at the pub around the corner and walked back to the apartment before finally getting to see the old town of Ceske Budejovice itself.

We walked to Přemysl Otakar II. Square, checked out the Samson Fountain and then on to the Dominican Monastery before walking around the town's outskirts and back to the apartment.

To celebrate our anniversary properly (not that a brewery tour isn't classed as "properly") we went to dinner at Life is Dream which we had read good reviews about and it certainly didn't disappoint. Large entrees, even larger mains and everything was fantastic.

Following dinner I took some photos and we rolled ourselves home, happy with bellies full of food and tasty, tasty beverages with the knowledge we had an early start the next morning with a train to Prague via Pilsen for another beer pilgrimage to the Pilsner Urquell Brewery.
