We woke at about 8.30am and I went to order Andrew a breakfast from the kitchen.  We sat on the porch drinking tea and coffee and tucking in to garlic and onion rice, corned beef and a fried egg, it was even better than the day before.

Amusingly the 40yr old lady who made it for us said it was the first time she had made tea and coffee - how is that possible?  We decided as it was our penultimate day we would do one last boat trip.

As it was already 9.30am we knew we would have missed all of the regular tours but we wondered if we might be able to charter a boat of our own for half a day.  We found our usual boat tour lady scouting around the beach so we enquired with her and half an hour later we were sailing out to some new Islands.  The Captains mate had a spear and Andrew was instantly intrigued and asked if he could watch him fish.

We went to two beaches and he caught a 'venom fish' sounded very ominous but tasted delicious when it was barbequed for lunch.  At the second beach he caught a lobster - it was facinating watching him, from a safe distance, free diving down and searching in between rocks, all very impressive and very skilfull.  We were amazed at the length of time that he could hold his breath for and how close he managed to get to everything.

Andrew offered to hold the lobster while the man carried on but despite having had a thick spear through it it wasnt dead and kept trying to get free.  Although it didnt have any pincers it made up for this with all the spikes it had all over it which made it somewhat difficult to keep hold of but Andrew managed to swim back to the boat one handed with a lobster in the other and me holding on to his leg to avoid all the tiny jellyfish.

Chatting with the guys back at the boat we found out that the jellyfish werent dangerous and that the spear diver had been attacked by a Barracuda a couple of years before, the scar on his leg was terrible.  It then became a bit of a 'survival off' as the Captain told us that he had had a bad bout of Malaria a while back!  The guys very kindly gave us the lobster as a token of our trip and we got them to cook it for us back at the huts.  We had it steamed with garlic and Andrew said it was the nicest lobster he had ever had.

We whiled away the rest of the afternoon sat on the porch listening to music on the I-pod, drinking rhum and coke and apple vodka and Sprite until the sun went down and we began to feel hungry.  Andrew suggested 'Alternative' again as it was our favourite restaurant in El Nido with these amazing 'lounging nests' that hover above the ocean.  Andrew had Chicken Curry and I had Sausage and Mash with gravy - you can take the girl out of Golborne blah, blah, blah.  We treated ourselves and ordered a bottle of wine then the strangest thing happened.

Andrew played me the most beautiful poem and then asked me to marry him......and I said yes.
