The HSBC Premier account holders have completely separate banks in Hong Kong, so in my shorts and T-shirt I was mincing around the folk in white suits and panama’s. As usual I wasn’t an easy customer to please as I was refusing to accept a loss in changing pounds to HK$ then to US$. Although the assistant and I struggled to communicate we eventually managed an emergency cash withdrawal in US$ from Pounds however it took maybe an hour, a free coffee and bowl of sweets appeases rotund people though.
Erica, Rorie and Emer found me in the HSBC just before I got the dollar
We headed back to Chez Tunstall aiming in hit the pool and build a base tan before leaving for the Philippines tomorrow morning. Unfortunately we realised we didn’t actually know what we were doing when we got to the Philippines and started to plan. As always this took forever and we ended up booking a further flight from Manila to Cebu departing only an hour after we are scheduled to land in Manila. The flights are only about 15 pound each though so whilst it would be a budgeting disaster it wouldn’t be the end of the world. Why Cebu? I honestly don’t know other than Erica told me to do it. I wanted to go to Boracay but we couldn’t find any cheap enough accommodation. Sleeping on the beach isn’t possible because of the Mosquito’s. Anyway we have booked a guest house in Cebu for tomorrow night for 6 quid so we will see what comes next. Erica is planning an undeveloped tropical island so we will smash that in the day after.
After a few arguments about the next leg of the trip we managed to Skype Baby Ellie, Vic, James and my Mum and Dad so all in all a successful afternoon but no swimming pool and no sun. We spent the rest of the afternoon building space rockets with the kids out of empty tissue boxes, my laptop box and my camera box. Ryan decided the mission was unsuccessful unless he could get in the rocket, so after building it onto a table (Erica's idea) both Ryan and Jasmine could 'get in’ the spaceship, we counted down and apparently landed on the moon. It was all a little far fetched for me, mainly as I couldn’t squeeze into the rocket with everyone else so wasn’t sure if I was still included in the moon landing party or not
We gave out some ‘budget’ level gifts to thank Steve and Lin for having us, swapped some photos, watched Steves video of Sophie’s birth (not graphic I hasten to add) and went to bed as we were finally about to leave 'China’ after 5 weeks. AAAARGH, would we get used to having to SHARE a bathroom ever again?
Again a big thanks to Steve and Lin for having us, we owe you big time. It has been a fantastic week and Ryan and Jasmine are two of the best brought up fun children you could imagine to meet. Just check Stevie (Z, Q, T etc) vids to see how much fun they are, we nearly brought them to the Philippines with us when Ryan asked if he could come.
