The cooking demo was great and Riqua let us get stuck in prepping everything and answering all our questions. We made a prawn in chilli and garlic and spring rolls. A few ingredients we still don't know what they were from the stock cupboard a kind of nutty substance imported from Singapore.
Essentially to make the Indonesian prawn curry we put about 3 shallots, 2 cloves of garlic, 3 chillies, 2 'nuts' into the blender and made a rough paste
To make the spring rolls I julliened a few carrots and cut up some cabbage finely, added a bit of MSG, salt, garlic, water and oil and fried. A couple of taste tests each and fine tuning then got some rice paper, removed excess liquid and rolled before frying in oil for about 3 minutes. ps this is for our own recipe list not expecting blog followers to try this. It was absolutely delicious however Steve wasn't feeling great (after a night on the town at a posh private members club the night before) and didn't get to try our handy work.
We cancelled our evening at the pictures and decided to play Lin at Wii bowling instead. After two games of being destroyed we retired to bed (reminding us of many nights at Damiens except the going to bed bit).
