Where I stayed
Palolem Guest House
Sat and had fried egg on toast for 30 Rupees in a cafe while we waited for the internet shop to open. Erica promptly vomitted her lemon pancake back up. I sat in the open air cafe and chortled to myself about the couple opposite who had organised a boat trip from the cafe and had been told to be outside at 7:00am
Sorted train tickets, feel ripped off and on the worst train in history we are not even sat near each other on the train. Never mind at least we are getting towards Kerela (where we are informed it is much hotter).
On another note one thing I haven't mentioned is that the 3rd ever Indian Premier League has been going on the whole time we have been here, I love the fact its on in every bar and hotel reception and its a great watch as we know so many of the players. Last night I stayed up watching the Punjab Kings XI (currently bottom of the league) beat the Mumbai Indians (clear away at the top of the leagure). I have a bit of a thing for the Rajasthan Royals I think its Shane Warnes slightly maveric approach to captaincy and they seem to have been on wherever we go. Its great though and if you watch it gives you an easy discussion topic with Indians who aren't wanting to sell you anything and everything
Erica took us speaking to Sarah the hawker, I am not sure why but Erica feels the need to speak to the hawkers and Sarah spent a good 10 minutes speaking to the Lady before Erica finally managed to get rid of her at one point she was giving out writing lessons as she taught Sarah to spell her name, I of course got stuck in with "She only wants 20 Rupees for that". I am clearly annoying the Lady as I just do not talk to any of the hawkers as I don't want any drums or elephants or sarongs, leaving Erica to politely rebuff every one.
The waves today were brilliant and I even got Erica playing in them for about 2 hours at one point she was lay in the shallows laughing her head off as each wave crashed over her nearly taking all her swimming costume away. I was running around picking her up before the next one knocked her over.
For lunch we went to "the pub" as we had used there sunbeds most of the day which was pretty good we escaped the heat for a while retiring to our guest house for a few hours before heading back out for some more kingfishers, some chicken tikka etc.
Erica Edit: "One other thing I feel I need to add that I dont think was mentioned was the tight fisted ones efforts in a beach bar the other day. We ordered two large Kingfishers then Andrew shouted over the owner before advising him that his beer was 10 rupees more than anywhere else we had drank on the beach. The owner, whilst thinking he was a little odd laughed, and started reeling off the lame reasons why. At which point Andrew asked him to reduce his price (just for us) by 10 rupees or we would be leaving. The owner said no. As Andrew now had said Kingfisher half drained we remained there rather sheepishly. To put this in proportion this is 12p per litre of Kingfisher". Priceless.
