Today was perhaps the most cruisey day I have had since arriving and it was most enjoyable. After breakfast I went straight to the internet café as I was keen to catch a few family and friends online before they left work (Australia is 8 hours ahead of Malta by the way). I spent an hour or so chatting to some of my work colleagues, my brother Jeff's girlfriend Kirsty and my brother Nick. I had such a good time just chatting to them about things so far, my journal and photos as well as how things were going back home. It is certainly an advantage of the modern day traveller to be able to not only check emails from friends and family but to also chat them in real time.

After that I went for a walk along the coast, swam for a time, rested on the rocks listening to music and also sat in quiet contemplation whilst being serenaded by the Mediterranean sea lapping against the Maltese coast. It was a wind down and some "me" time after the weekend spent with relatives. Yesterday whilst at my cousin Michael's house I actually watched a movie called "The Illusionist" starring Edward Norton Maltese fisherman

. It was a movie I have wanted to see but never got around to and I found it most enjoyable. The movie was based on a novel called "Eisenheim The Illusionist" so I wandered through the shopping district of Sliema and found a book store. It was quite pleasant within the store, had a bit of a rustic feel with a spiral staircase and books absolutely everywhere. I was unable to find the book I was looking for but spent some time browsing some of the titles, I planned to go to Valletta tomorrow to look at some book stores there perhaps. Finding the book was a quest I had accepted on my Maltese adventure!

Another thing I had on my to do list today was to source a few pastizzi from this vendor in south Sliema. Aunty Julie told me that he was legendary in Malta and that people travelled far and wide to eat his creations. I have to say they were divine, the pastizzi melted in my mouth, incredible. I am going to have to visit that place a little more for sure.

Today was the first day I had a siesta in the afternoon as well. Just found myself rather sleepy in the afternoon and had a few hours resting in my hotel room. This invigorated me and gave me the drive to go for a run to St Julians and another swim in the afternoon. My day ended with a sit down meal in the outdoor area of a restaurant on the water front of Sliema. I ordered the most famous of Maltese delicacies, rabbit. Cooked in a red wine sauce resting on a bed of mixed vegetables...mmm. What a great day.
