Kl is not an easy to get around. When you use the trains, it is far easier, cheaper and more efficient than the London Underground. If you try and walk anywhere, the roads usually take you in a completely different direction, or you find to get where you want to go there is a six lane highway in your way, or a river. I got very lost today trying to find the Islamic Art Museum. It is only 10mins away, but took me at least 45mins to find.
The museum itself was excellent, full of Islamic Art and weapons from wars gone-by. It also had scale models of some of the more important Mosques from around the world, and a section on how Islamic Art has influenced the west. It was really interesting and I highly recommend going. On the way is the National Mosque of Malaysia which is an impressive building from the outside (I wasn't allowed as I am not a Muslim).
Getting back from the Islamic Art Museum has just as problematic as getting there. I eventually found myself walking around to Colonial District (as I had planned) and then through the Central Market. On leaving the market, it started to rain, obviously. I dived back inside for some green tea and waited for the rain to stop.
Back to the hostel where I changed and went on the look out for Tiffs Jazz Lounge. After a train ride and a taxi driver who didn't know where it was, I got a drink and asked the locals where it might. No-one had heard of it. After more walking the streets of Bukit Bintang with no result I headed back to the hostel. Continues to drink with some people from the hostel until 2:25am and decided to call it a night.
