One night I was having a beer in a bar called Bad Monkey with some friends of mine when someone politely knocked on my shoulder. I didn't notice I was blocking the narrow alley and this guy needed to pass. So I move out a bit to clear the way and this is when I noticed that I actually knew him. I couldn't believe my eyes. It was this guy from Montreal I had toured Israel with almost a full year before.

We had gone separate ways precisely 11 months and a half before, one continent away, and had lost contact ever since. We had never even talked about going to China. So we obviously had no clue that we were both in China at the same time, let alone in Dali,Yunnan and in the same not so good bar. And I had to stand in his way for us to meet again.

That's next to impossible. That's the kind of thing you could never make happen if you tried. We traveled together again for a few days. It was a lot of fun. I still can't believe it.

Dali is famous for those pagodas.
