There's not much to Leshan itself but it has the largest Buddha in the world so I had to go take a peek.

Grand Buddha Facts:

- Largest in the world at 71m high.

- His ears are 7m long.

- They say you could picnic on the nail of his big toe - the toe itself is 8.5m long.

- Project started by a Buddhist Monk called Haitong in AD 713.

- Took over 100 years to complete.

- Below the Grand Buddha was a hollow in the river where boatmen used to vanish. Haitong hoped that the Buddha's presence would subdue the swift currents and protect the boatmen. Which it did for the surplus rocks from the sculptings filled the river hallow !!!
