Flag of Macau  ,

Walking the streets of Macau is like wandering in some Portuguese town. The buildings are painted with beautiful pastel colors. There are many churches left from the time the Jesuits were here. The city really has a Latin feel to it. But that is all changing rapidly.

Last year, more money was gambled in Macau than Las Vegas, NV. It was the first time ever that Vegas was actually surpassed. It's well known, the Chinese are big gamblers and the people that created Las Vegas from scratch are banking on it. They're building a brand new Las Vegas Strip here in Macau. Exactly two weeks ago they opened the largest casino on Earth, the Venetian - Macau who's is a replica of the one in Las Vegas, NV. I paid a visit, and kindly made a monthly payment and a half to Steve Wynn, Hahaha.

With the influence of mainland China and all the US money pouring in, one can only hope that Macau will manage to retain some of its Portuguese flavor. As they say so well when you enter the casinos: GOOD LUCK !!!!!!!!

Andre.
