The Nubians are colored people that originally came from neighboring Sudan. They're mostly found in the south of Egypt and especially in the Aswan area. They're very friendly and relax people. They're like God-sent people for Egypt. Quite a contrast with the regular Egyptian from the North.

In order to better control the flow of the Nile, two giant dams were built. First the Aswan Dam and more recently the High Dam. The huge reservoir created by those dams flooded a very large area of southern Egypt and many Pharaoh era temples would have been submerged had it not been of the UNESCO. To prevent the lost of inestimable world class heritage monument, UNESCO put together an international campaign to raise funds so the most important monuments could be moved to higher ground. The Phylae temple was one of them. It was literally cut into pieces and re-constructed a few miles away on an island not far from Aswan. One could never tell that the temple was ever moved. Every little detail was paid attention to, the shape of the island it sat on, the orientation of the temple with respect to the rising sun, etc... A very impressive accomplishment.

Aswan, home of the real Egyptians.
