I love this place, and I am so enlivened and saddened by it, this city of God and death. Perhaps not leaving is the way to not be sad- I can actually see that, in a weird way. I could
not be sad for the kids at the bakery because I cold see their wide-eyed dreams being replaced by love, family: Satisfaction. I could make sure that sweet little black dog gets some meat. I would have the opportunity to see life here as living devotion; as a means to an end, and not just a snapshot in a world where hope, and nothing else, springs eternal.
Such sweet emotion. I am filled with gratitude, and it spills out in tears.
