Nine days!

This morning, I drove my brother Ethan to the airport to catch  his flight to Florida.  I won't see him 'til New Year's- not too far out, but I'll be back from India, he'll be back from, basically, another winter down south- we'll each be older by stretches other than time.  Weird.

Anyhoo...  Today; T-9.  I've bought new pack locks and tether, a new passport/money wallet thingie, new hair rubber bands (et cetera), a slightly larger Timbuk2 bag (than last time- lessons learned), some ziplock bags, laundry powder, bandaids...  I have all the (legal) drugs I could possibly need, AC adaptors, gathered this and that from the last trip (travel alarm clock, headlamp, etc), and just tonight put a fresh coat of paint on my hair...  I've packed and unpacked several times (more to come)- remembering the stuff I brought and didn't bring and needed and didn't need last time...  Picked some brains, probably ignored or forgotten really good advice, and have been officially totally absent-minded and worthless professionally...  Yep, a trip is coming up.  I have pretty much no itinerary other than four places I know I'm going to hit- New Delhi, Varanasi, Goa, and Mumbai.  Outside of that- of course the Taj Mahal in Agra, maybe spend some time in Rajasthan- maybe Rishikesh??  But that all depends on weather and comfort zone while north.  Definitely will spend some good time in Varanasi, spend holidays on the beach in south Goa, check out Hampi area, the market in Anjuna...  Heard I should see Pune... And I'll fly home from Mumbai.   That's a lot.  Knowing my traveling style, I think I can cover some ground, but also knowing that I'm going to want to spend holidays on the beach and at least a few days if not a week in Varanasi- that's a lot, and it's a big country.

So, those are the "plans".  I know how plans go when traveling, so- nothing in stone.  I've got an airport pickup and my first two nights' accomodation booked in Delhi in the ever popular backpacker area Paharganj, we'll see what brews from there.  Meanwhile...  I should probably unpack and pack again.  And stare at the map on my wall.  And spend another week at work sending emails to the wrong people.

Okay, then, 'til I have something worthwhile to say...  Or 'til I feel like saying something else worthless...

(It's after midnight, and officially T-8.  ..Goodnight!)
