3 hrs ferry ride to Pinang. We were both out cold, slept all the way to Pinang. Arrival in Pinang at about 9pm. Started walking but eventually took the cab. Weather is warm and humid. Quick check-in at the Good Hope Inn in Georgetown. Took bus downtown. Again we end up in one of the infamous food markets (Red Garden). So far this trip seems to be all about food and a state of constant perspiration. :) Karaoke at the food market. Line dancing is the way to go here. Beatles, country music, and occasional karaoke complements our dinner. On the way home we had an almost attack by a "stoned" dog showing some attitude.
Steffi slept in late. Took bus to Georgetown and rented a scooter. Drove to Snake Temple where snakes (green viper) linger around. Continued on to Ferrenghi Beach where we ate Roti at the beach. Chilling. Scooted on to the next beach and Taman Negara Pinang (kind of rainforest), however the canope walk was closed already. Scooted back to the Hotel and loaded all our bags and packs onto the scooter. Fully packed back to Georgetown to return the scooter. While Pinang is not too exciting except for the old buildings and temples it is a heaven on earth for crazy scooter driving. The malaysian way of riding a scooter however, is quite contagious. After a short learning period we were on our "best" driving manners and blended in quite well. We even accomplished a wheely on our scooter. Back to the airport by bus to catch a flight to Kuala Lumpur to meet up again with Robina our local "guide".
