We booked our tickets to Budapest so that we'd wind up on the same flight as the friends getting married (Russ and Andi) and another wedding guest (Pat) from JFK onwards. Our flight from DC to NY got diverted to LaGuardia (thunderstorms) and after a 2.5 hour wait, they flew us from LaGuardia to JFK. Probably the shortest flight I will ever be on. Luckily, we had a 5 hour layover.

We got settled at the Malev gate area--and our friends were nowhere to be found. Nor did they turn up before we left. A bit worrying since the apartment we were renting in Budapest was in their name...
