Made it to Krakow by lunch time after a pleasant drive through the mountains, found our hotel and ate at a modern version of a milkbar (galubki for us both!). We saw the main square--Town Hall, Cloth Hall, St Mary's, St. Adalbert's--and heard the bugler.

Venturing further afield, we saw the Franciscan Basilica (home of art deco), St Florian's Gate, the Barbakan, and the Rembrandt and Da Vinci at the Art Museum. The most fascinating thing about the art museum for me was that they have lots of empty frames labeled with painting names and signs explaining that they were stolen by the Nazis and Poland is waiting for them to be repatriated.

Then up to Wawel Hill to see Wawel Cathedral, followed by pierogies and ice cream for dinner. I wish the US had pierogies like Krakow has pierogies.
