We got up about 8 am and after breakfast set out for the road once again. Our first planned stop was Pecs, and on the way out the door we ran into Anne who was waiting for Russ to also go to Pecs. So we caravanned down there.

On the way we completely unexpectedly came across the Hungarian-Turkish Friendship Memorial. It was a monument off the side of the road in the middle of nowhere, built in 1994 to try and repair the damaged relations between the two groups. It was a good rest stop, and gave us another opportunity to see giant statues.

Pecs is an interesting town with a nice square. There's a large building that used to be a mosque but is now a church. There's still a crescent moon atop it, but a cross has been added above it. Sadly, the UNESCO frescos that we were hoping to see were closed for restoration.

One other noteworthy thing about Pecs is that there's a tradition of couples placing locks on a certain iron fence as a symbol of their commitment. The fence is absolutely full now, so people have started putting locks on other random fences throughout the city.
