July 28
I met up with Pearl in London for the last leg of the flight. I was exhausted but excited. Arriving in Barcelona, the first thing I noticed was the heat, the second was the palm trees everywhere. We got a cab to the University Dorms we were staying in (I think I far overtipped the cab driver because I hadn't adjusted to the Spanish currency yet.) We found Linda and found our rooms. We all had singles, the rooms were very austere!
Afterwards we ventured out to see the fountain light show by the National Art Museum of Barcelona.
July 29
A day out and about in Barcelona. The highlight was Park Guell (even with encountering a guy peeing on the path, public urination became a theme for this trip).
July 30
More time running around Barcelona--seeing the Sagrada Familia church (still under construction) and a very phallic statue (with beautiful mosaic work). Linda's conference involved STD research, so we found the statue amusingly appropriate.
Late that night we boarded a sleeper train to Nice.
