Up early this morning to catch a flight to Rio. We're staying in a bed and breakfast in Santa Theresa, which is not a great neighborhood, but we're on the main street which is safe, and it's an artsy, gentrifying area. We're staying in Castelo Valentim which was built in 1879 and later converted into apartments. It's at the highest point in Santa Theresa, and we're up on the 4th floor with great views out over the city. Also, on the back balcony, there are trees with monkeys! We fed them bananas.
Today we mostly enjoyed the views while chilling out on the balcony and planning out what we want to do for the next few days. We went to a Brazilian steakhouse for dinner. It was excellent, but I think I've consumed an annual supply of beef in the last week. We're having an early night as we have a pretty full day planned for tomorrow.
