Although I was feeling sick when I arrived in Cusco (probably a combination of altitude sickness, extreme tiredness and a bug I think I caught on the bus) I went on the Inca trail as planned.

The first day was easy enough.  I thought I might die the second day as most of it was uphill. The third day was another easy day, or at least it should have been if I hadnīt been so sore from day 2.  We arrived at machu picchu this morning at around 7 am.  Unfortunately it was very foggy and raining but it was still amazing to see.

The trail was very hard for me but Iīm very glad that I did it.  It was a once in a lifetime experience. Knowing how much I struggled with it I am in utter awe of the porters.  They carry 40 pound bags and take the trail at almost a jog in order to get to camp before the trekkers and make lunch/dinner.  They are absolutely amazing and the food that is prepared on the trail is incredible.  Definately no going hungry as every meal is an absolute feast.

Machu picchu is a huge site, much larger that I thought even from looking at the photos.  It amazing that itīs so intact.  I wish I had a chance to see it in sunlight but even in the rain it was amazing as were the other incan ruins that we saw along the inca trail.
