Tuesday the 6th I took a flight first to Toronto. Thank you to Mom, Dad, Kristen, Kelsey, Craig and Sarah who came to the airport for my 3 hour stopover in order to enjoy a coffee with me and Katherine. I miss you all and I really enjoyed the chance to see you. Im sorry I couldnt stay longer.
Afterwards, Katherine and I took a flight to Mexico where we landed shortly before midnight. We took our transfer right to the hotel. The next morning we had a couple hours before we had to take a cab to the airport so we had a chance to wander around the market and the church near our accommodations. We were also able to see the Palace since it was so close to the hotel. I wish we had had more time to explore but I defianately will take another trip to Mexico one day and do it properly.
´We arrived in Guatemala city the next day. We stayed at a bed and breakfast close to the airport. We met up with Jon and Kirsten at the bed and breakfast. Ive only just met Jon and Kirsten but luckily they seem very nice and easy to get along with. Our first night in Guatemala we went out to a restaurant closer to the center of town.
Day two in Guatemala we went to Antigua on the chicken bus. If you ever wondered where all the old school buses you rode as a kid went i can tell you... they came down here and were suped up with fancy grills and paint.
Antigua was a very nice little town but very touristy. We enjoyed a nice afternoon of wandering and some excellent food.
This morning we took a shuttle to Pachetel and then the boat to San Marco. This place is beautiful. Set on the lake with the most gorgeous mountains all around. The town is based around tourism but its fantastic and I cant tell you how much I love our room. Weve rented a small thatched hut for the night. It so perfect that i really wish we had the chance to stay longer but we have a lot to see in the next month so were leaving tomorrow.
