Sorry, I've been awful at keeping this blog up to date lately.  I have so much news to share about what has gone on for the last month.  Unfortunately, since it's been so long since I updated it will now only be very brief descriptions of what has happened.  I guess to make it easier I'll just go chronologically:

Dec. 31- New Year's Eve, we had a massive group of people, many of which were friends of friends visiting from Germany (I think we had 15 German visitors in our group of 22).  We started the night out with an Italian dinner and were then on our way to see the fireworks down by the Thames/ Big Ben.  Unfortunately as is often the case with large groups it took a while to get the bill sorted.  We arrived at the tube station at 11:30 not giving ourselves nearly enough time to make our way through the massive crowds to see the fireworks.  At one point about 30 officers pushed themselves through the crowd and closed off the area resulting in a massive crush as everyone tried to turn around.  Pretty much like a giant mosh pit.  At one point I got separated from the group briefly and thought I was going to be carried away with the crowds.  By midnight we were all able to relocate the group and rang in the new year together.  We weren't able to see the fireworks but they at least sounded amazing.  By some miracle we then found a very small bar that let all 22 of us in and we spent the rest of the night celebrating in an underground bar about twice the size of the average person's sitting room.

4th- Went ice skating at the Tower of London.  It was our third attempt to go ice skating there.  Something I'll only do once at 10 pounds for an hour but fun none the less.  The thing I like about skating overseas is I seem like a much better skater when I'm not compared to all the hockey players the speed around the ring back in Canada.  Very fun evening even if my ankles were killing me by the end.  Great atmosphere with the tower right there next to you.

6th-  PASHA nightclub.  Most expensive nightclub I've been to at 20 pounds cover.  Fun night but I've been to better places for a lot less money.

10th- Found this website called Meet-up on the web.  Basically you have groups and meet-up with complete strangers who have the same interests.  This night I went to the vegetarian meet-up which gave me a chance to try out a cool vegetarian restaurant in Camden.  Thinking about it I don't think I've ever been to a vegetarian restaurant in 10 years of being a vegetarian.  I just don't know that many vegos.  Nice to be able to try one and I love Camden.

16th- Went to Canadian meet-up at Maple Leaf pub.  First ice hockey I've seen in a while.  Met lots of great people.

17th- Went out for drinks with work mates.  I no longer have the temp job that I have been doing for 2.5 months as of Friday.  After a few drinks I got to talking to a workmate and it's decided that I will come with her and a couple friends when she leaves on Feb. 6th to travel Central/ South America.

19th- Booked my tickets!!!

20th- Went with a friend on a trip to Cambridge for the day.  Absolutely beautiful city.  Took many pictures of the colleges and outdoors.  So nice to get out of London for the day...I miss trees.

24th- Friend Carly came back from Australia.  So great to see her.

25th- Carly and I went to see the musical "Wicked" in the West end.  So so so good.  Absolutely loved it.  I think it is now one of my favourite musicals up there with Lion King which I saw a couple years ago.  I love musicals, I can't believe I've been here for 4 months and have only actually managed to make it to 1.  Will definately have to see more next time I come back to London.  Phantom of the Opera is still the one that I am DYING to see.

Well, I guess that's it for now.  I'm working at a bank at the moment as a switchboard operator.  Very easy job and I'm enjoying all the free time I have to read in the day when the phone isn't ringing.  That job I finish on Friday and then I'll be off to Cardiff for the weekend before leaving for Central America on the 6th.
