Sorry for not updating more...I get internet at work so I can check e-mails there but I don't want to make entries there in case they monitor usage.
I left Canada just over two months ago now. On the one hand that doesn't seem so long ago but travelling through Ireland seems like it happened ages ago.
I've been in London for about 6 weeks now. Starting to really feel like I live here. Especially when I commute home on the tube at night. I've even been mistaken for a Londoner by tourists a few times and they've asked for directions.
I'm still living at the hostel which is starting to get on my nerves a little. I love hostelling and the atmosphere when I'm travelling but it's a little annoying trying to get ready for work at 7 am in the dark and being woken up by drunk people at 2 am when you have to get up in 5 hours. There have been so many different groups of people I had planned to get a place with but now it looks like just me and Lisa who was the girl I was going to move out with originally.
I haven't been doing much on the touristy side. I had wanted to go sightseeing this weekend but I'm getting sick. I think it may be tonsilitis but I'm praying that it's not. That's all I need, I'd lose my position if I had to take a week off and I don't have anything else lined up at the moment. My friend Carly is heading back to Australia tomorrow. Everyone's gone for a big night out so I'm hanging out at the internet cafe and planning an early night so that hopefully I'll recover quickly.
I've planned a trip to visit my aunt in Birmingham next weekend. I'm looking forward to seeing some family and a chance to see some more of England.
Thoughts on the 2 month mark.....
Overall I really like it here. I've had some down moments as everyone does while travelling but I'm glad I made the decision to come. I've met some really amazing people on my travels and I hope that in a couple of years from now I will have some great stories of my own to tell. I feel really lucky to have the opportunity to travel and see the world and I think everyone who has the opportunity should seize the day because it's just so amazing.
Oh and by the way...I work just down the street from Buckingham Palace on Buckingham Palace Road...how cool is that?
