I ended up heading to a house party in Waterloo on Saturday night. Didn't know too many people but turned out to be a great party. Sore for two days after from sleeping on a wooden board though. Golden Griddle breakfast buffet the next morning was ecstasy.
Started packing finally. I'm going to have to be really discriminatory. Haven't even finished and I'm already pushing 30 pounds. I may end up having a 40 pound pack in the end. Luckily, my parents will be picking up work clothes, etc. when they come over to visit next June. For 5 weeks in New Zealand and Hawaii I had a 17 pound backpack and a separate daypack weighing about 8 pounds. So 25 in total. I hope to have a similar weight pack for Europe next summer.
I had wanted to do this trip purposely without much planning. I was going to show up in Dublin and decide where to go from there. I know from past trips that flexibility can make a much better trip. Well, at the last minute I decided that I would at least book my first night in Dublin since I didn't plan on going anywhere the first day. Well, turns out weekends get filled quickly in Dublin. I bet young people from the country come for the nightlife and crash at a hostel. I've seen that before. Anyway, so I found a booking for Friday night and have booked for Saturday and Sunday night in Cork since the city was booked solid on Saturday night. Note to self: try to get back to Dublin on a night other than Saturday.
Last night, I headed to Toronto to meet up with some old friends. We went to the Black Bull Pub on Queen St. It was a good evening. Always nice to catch up with friends you haven't seen in a while. My life really feels directionless when in comparison with that group of friends. I'm not really old enough to have friends who are teaching assistants am I? Guess so. Well, I'm 18 at heart and that's all that matters.
I'll post once more before leaving.
