This was to be our first day almost completely by ourselves. Our friend Coni couldn't miss another days Uni or else she would fail, which is incredibly selfish, right? I know, but we forgive her. So we had the day to wander about and explore by ourselves.

On our walks we encountered a row of carriages led by horse. Which looked absolutely amazing! However they always smell so bad and ruin the whole thing. So needless to say we ran past them.

Being on a strict minimalistic budget, we were keen to find some down to earth South American markets. After looking around for hours we found one tucked away in its own little corner of Viña. Filled with exquisite handcrafts of such a wide variety it was difficult to pick only a few things. In the end we decided to get something to remember Viña and Valparaiso. We bought an empty scotch bottle with a leather jacket wrapped and stitched onto it, with the words "Recuerdo de Valparaíso" a memory of Valparaíso burned into the leather. There are hooks in the leather by which four shot glasses hang.

This part is the most important of our day, so listen closely. Alright, so imagine this, you're in south America and its been a couple days and you realize something. What?! I haven't even tried empanadas yet! How can I be so stupid!! We were recommended a place right next to maccas and wow was it great! I had empanada de queso con carne. Cheese with Beef. It was honestly the best thing I have ever tasted. This was the day I fell in love with empanadas! So after the experience of my life we walked home.

Although we haven't used the bottle yet, we waited up for Coni and her friend Maca who were coming home from Santiago. Around 11:30 after having some preparation for drinking Ravioli we headed out to a pub called the journal. In Chile they do things a little differently. Instead of drinking to get drunk everyone knows their limit and they tend to stay within that. We tried a Chilean alcohol called pisco. Often drunk with lemon juice and sugar "pisco sour" or as we had it, with coke (piscola).

In the end it was a pretty quiet day, but it really helped us to get over what remained of our jet lag.
