California , I'm coming home

It's so strange finally being in a "home" and not in a backpacker but this way I am easing my way back into civilization.
California , New York and Hawaii are difficult places to call America. If you take out the Starbucks , McDonalds and tourist and some other places, Hawaii is another exotic polonysian island. Los Angeles is the only place in the United states where more people take their dogs to coffee bean than their spouces and New York ... Well , I don't think I even need to get into how different it is there. It's the microcosmos of every metropolitan city in the world.
Each place though , has it's own "water culture". Hawaii has the whole surfing and hanging loose thing going on , Los Angeles has the upscale version of that where you go to the beach or peer but you shop 3rd street first and New York has more of a port like culture to it's water I think. Each is really different and I can't exactly see myself living in a place like LA but it's fun to come and watch.
All of the sudden , from going to worrying weather I have clean clothes , I don't know if mine are "in style" anymore. There aren't anymore tourists hanging about either because I am living with my cousin in a residential area and I'm not sure how to talk to people anymore. I used to ask where people are from and where they are headed but all of those questions seem irrelivant now so I must come up with something new.
With all that though, it's easy to get sucked back into "reality" and start acting like you belong again. In most places I would rather just observe and meet people but here I feel like I lived in California for two weeks and didn't meet anybody.
So from appartment hunting to a tofu festival to various restaurants accompanied by my cousin Hannah and sometimes with my other cousin Rachel and her husband Jarred. T'was fun to say the least even though I don't feel like a tourist anymore. Attractions didn't intrest me but a beach , a peer , shops and random fun spots were perfect for me right now and I enjoyed it a lot.
Next stop is Washington D.C (Da Capitol) where my brother and father are waiting for me to arrive. This will be the first time I see them in seven and a half months so I'm pretty excited. Off to Maryland!
