We travelled from Byron Bay to Surfers Paradise to Brisbane to Noosa. The weather wasn't too great so we didn't stay long in each place. Surfers Paradise is a pretty big city with a huge coast line and heaps of shops. In Byron bay we met a bunch of people that we continued seeing up the coast so we would all go out together at night. The deal from Surfers was $6 for two beers at the backpacker and two more in the club plus free entry. Now , I never used to drink beers because I generally don't really like carbonated drinks but I gotta tell ya , it grows on you. The clubs are different as well ,with giant screens everywhere displaying the video clips to the songs.
Basically though , the east coast is full of parties and beaches. Since the weather has been a bit rainy , even the beaches are hard to enjoy.
Noosa itself is a nice place though and it reminds me of Hertzelia. The houses are beautiful and you have a pick at any "posh" shop you want. I actually had a pretty active day though because I rented a surf board and after surfing for three hours , played volleyball at the backpacker so it's all good. Yesterday, I went to the Australian Zoo. You all know that guy Steve who catches crocodiles on the tele? Well , It's his zoo and his face is all over it. Finally , a chance to see the native animals here. I think my favorite is the Koala simply because it seems so indifferent to everything around it. Sleeping and eating all day , it doesn't mind if you touch it or hold it and it moves really slowly. It also reminds me of a handful of people I know so it's funny to watch. The sad thing is that in many places , their trees are being chopped down , the Koalas get depressed and are more susceptive to disease. Now , in Australia , the numbers have declined from about 12 million to less than one million so you gotta pity these little guys. We got the whole 'croc' , snake and bird show which was rather entertaining as well.
All in all , the places up the coast are very similar but I am looking forward to the scuba and Islands further up. More thumbnails ...
