Today's mission on the farm was to cut more grass. Just before our lunch-break the youngest member of the group of tribe workers was casing out the farm next door and in particular alone coconut tree. After a coupleof minutes and some discussion with others he jumped the fence, scaled the coconut tree & with his sythe cut down a dozen or so coconuts throwing them back onto this sideof the fence they were quickly hidden under the piles of grass cuttings. After I was sworn into secrecy I drunk coconut milk and ate the coconut meat (for want of a better word) with them.
Back upto the house for lunch and spent the afternoon observing the farm owners negotiate a deal with chiko buyers with the hope of exporting. It was plain to see the division of roles between male and female - men doing the business (even I was included - even tho I know nothing about chiko's and even less about the language!), and the women outside chatting, although Michelle did include herself in the discussions, and I understand that the roles are starting to change somewhat.
Visited the chiko auction and then back to the hotel for dinner and a well earned rest.
