Well, here I am at the beach. I am at Manuel Antonio, a national preserve. It is on the central Pacific coast and is beautiful, although a bit touristy and expensive. The guidebooks gaurantee a monkey sighting, and sure enough on our way back from snorkeling this afternoon we saw about a dozen spider monkeys. I've been hanging out with a girl from Tokyo, Japan. She doesn't speak much English (or Spanish) so the communication has been hard, but definately an interesting experience. I spent yesterday laying on the beach and readong one of my new Julia Alvarez books, "In the Name of Salome." Then today I went and got my bus ticket to go back to San Ramón tomorrow. This afternoon I went on an excursion to a "Robinson Crusoe" beach to go snorkeling. The snorkeling was great, we saw dozens of different fish, even a yellow blowfish (it looked like a big yellow balloon). And if that wasn't enough, on the ride there and back we saw a sloth, about a dozen spider monkeys, and 2 iguanas. It's been a great stay at the beach, but I think I've had enough sun for a few days, so tomorrow I will head back to San Ramón for the weekend before I start work with Habitat on Monday. Hope all is well, let me know how things are going throughout the month. Best Wishes! Amy.
