Just a note from Amy's Mom and Dad,
We talked with Amy today and everything is going well. She is adjusting very well to life in Madagascar. She is staying with her host family, about a 15 minute walk from Antananarivo. She says it is a beautiful country and where she is right now is hilly like West Virginia. She went to a Lutheran Church today and took five of her host mother's children (The mother was not feeling well) and says that the children love to follow her around. They have been following the World Cup Soccer Championship closely. She is learning Madagasy and says that flip-flops are called "scooby-doo's' over there. She is enjoying a variety of fruits (oranges, papaya, banana, etc.) and vegetables and learned how to prepare a chicken from the yard to the table for a meal! She is preparing lesson plans for some practice teaching and will soon be ready to go to her new assignment. She was excited because her teaching assignment will have a two room house on the school compound, running water, electricity and a flush toilet.
