I write this entry quite bleary eyed. I have just arrived in San Fran after a 23 hour train journey - it actually wasn't as bad as it sounds. The train left Seattle at 10am Thursday, and arrived 9am Friday morning, and I was really surprised about the amount of space you get for each seat - plus a thing to put your legs on etc. In the middle of the train is the dining cart, cafe and the view car where the sides and top are windows so you can watch the world go by - which I did, savoring every minute of the sun (well it was smoggy when we left Seattle but soon lifted after that).
The tracks actually aren't owned by Amtrak so all the freight trains have right of way so there were a few stops. At one stop a man who called himself Robert Wagner and could talk for England got hold of me, but i quickly found an excuse to get away! I met a lovely couple from New Zealand who have been giving me tips on how to save money. So on the journey it was quite uneventful (apart from the scenery) and I watched a few films, The Forgotten, Princess Diaries 2 and Wimbledon. When I went to sleep I woke up to find that the guy sitting next to me had puked on himself (how nice) so I quickly moved my stuff, shouting something at him on the way and tried to find somewhere else to sit - but the train was packed so I found a corner behind chair and somehow managed to get some sleep! the guy was still there when i got off the train later, and still asleep, but i did make sure he was alive!
California, California, Californnnnnniiiiiiaa Here we co-hu-hum. For all you OC fans out there!
