To try to tell you all about today.....I am not even sure where or how to begin.  Today was a learning, growing, stretching and somewhat emotional and crazy day.  But it didn't start out that way.....it started as a pretty routine (for us here!) morning....with 2 two OT's tearing a wheelchair apart in order to put it back together.  While doing this, a local woman who was some sort of "physioterapista" (physical therapist) somehow arrived... and began treating the kids roughly and doing "treatment" that was not therapeutic at all....and watching this broke our hearts and really concerned us...and not speaking the language we worried that all of our teaching would go out the window, as we were not able to really understand all that was going on......this was perhaps the longest 3 or so hours of my life!  Finally, Betty, who is amazing....have I mentioned this?  came back, and we learned that this person's visit took them by surprise and really confused them as well.  So to make this story shorter, tomorrow will be a full day of finishing the play room, spending time re-teaching the staff skills we've already worked on, discussing with the director what an awesome  and capable staff she has, and saying goodbye to the children and the nurses.  Tomorrow will be another up/down day...  uffda! Then Friday we head to Guate City to the city dump, where we will work with kids going to a school in the dump.  I am sure that Friday will be a full day as well

This afternoon after leaving the orphanage,  we had a bit of a break.....I think it was exactly what was needed to re-group from the early part of the day.  We spent the late afternoon visiting the historic ruins of ixichme, and learning about the history of Guatemala, then took our hosts (well, she got us all there!)to a great restaurant where we tried many typical Guatemalan dishes.

Thanks for your prayers this week--truly we cannot do what we are doing without this.  For tomorrow, please pray specifically for wisdom in how to frame our teaching from both a cultural and teaching perspective...we know most of the staff is eager to learn from us, but now may have some mistrust of someone who provides "therapy"....pray for wisdom too as we attempt this while taking care not to offend from a cultural standpoint...we do not want to appear as if we think that only north Americans know what to do.....

Thinking of you and praying that you are able to use all your skills to the max! :-) I can almost imagine the joy you must be experiencing knowing you are making such a significant difference in the lives of these precious children!
