I had breakfast with Martine, then got ready to go skiing. It wasn't as cold as the last Tuesday when we went skiing, but it was still pretty cold.
We stopped off at Martine's work first so that she could get her skis and ski pants. We left soon after.
We skied to Italy, right down into the station of La Thuile, like we did on the Tuesday in the holidays. Usually, when I ski to Italy with Jessica, we ski near the border, so I enjoyed going somewhere different. The ski down into the station was really pretty, with all the trees that bordered the run. We skied until lunchtime, where we ate at the same place as the last time. I went to go to the bathrooms, but they smelt really bad and they were the same type of toilets I had seen elsewhere overseas. I quickly exited.
We kept skiing, and eventually found ourselves back in France. I really like that style of skiing, when you're going somewhere, and not just going up and down the chairlift and the runs underneath it. Italy had better snow than France, less people and less wind.
It was a beautiful day to go skiing, absolutely the best day to finish on, as we definitely finished on a high. As there were hardly any people, we could ski fast, the sun was out and there were no clouds and the snow was good so you didn't have to look out for rocks, like in France right now. It was fun; I didn't fall today, and I left with a smile on my face.
After we finished skiing, we left to return my skis. As I carried my skis back into the hire shop, I felt sad. It was finally setting in that I would be leaving tomorrow.
We got home, and I packed my suitcase. This further set in the motion that I was actually leaving. I had lots of presents from the family from Christmas that I had to fit in, as well as the small amount of shopping that I had done. I was scared that I would be way over the limit, and as I packed and went over the sides of my case, I knew that that would be the case. But, when Martine weighed my suitcase, it was only 23kilos; 3 less than what I came with! Admitted, I have to carry my stuffed toys (a marmotte and a chamoix, both given to me by Jessica) on the plane, and my electronics are in my carry-on luggage, but I still think that that's pretty good!
Martine and Roland had washed, ironed and folded all my clothes for me, so it was pretty easy to pack and I finished quickly.
I amused myself on the computer, and watched tv. I stopped to eat afternoon tea, then returned to my nothingness. I felt amazingly satisfied that I wasn't over the weight limit.
I waited until Jessica and Roland came home at about 7pm.
We had dinner together, and as we watched a video that Jessica had made as a surprise for me. It was a montage of videos and photos from my 5 weeks here. The tears started at the first photo. Everyone cried, and we ran out of tissues so Jessica had to use her serviette. It was really emotional. Dad had made a youtube video, too, so we watched that aswell. They gave me a present of a fountain pen, 4 ink cartridges and these pen erasers. It was thoughtful.
Jess and I exchanged photos and music before we called it a night. It's a big day tomorrow....
My next blog won't be until I get back to Melbourne, on Thursday.
