Flying to Beijing

Thursday 13th March - Friday 14th March
We just arrived in Singapore after a turbulent flight. It felt as if we never made it through turbulence, causing Elyse most distress.
Our trip started off with Dad driving the hour or so to the airport, then only taking ten minutes to walk to the airport from the car park and check in all our suitcases. This was due to our new-found secret of the internet check-in, which allowed us to jump the queue and check-in quicker. That's a big tip to everyone out there---internet check-in is so easy to do, and basically no one does it yet!
We had to say good-bye to dad, which took awhile. We then made our way to our gate where we took the advice of the flight board and 'relax', as that was the status of our plane. We waited for two hours, amusing ourselves with our iPods and chatting.
We finally boarded the plane, and no surprise to us, we were up near the back. Singapore Airlines has an amazing amount of entertainment options, showing us movies only just coming out in the cinemas back home, but they had funny times for turning on and off the lights, and serving the food. I guess it would be hard, though, to pick a good time to serve supper when the plane departed at 12:50am and no one was really in the mood for food anyway.
Every few minutes our movies were interrupted by the cabin crew; "We are going through turbulence, again, please return to your seats and fasten your seat-belt." Is it sad that I can remember their entire spiel?
The plane arrived at 5am, Singapore time (which is 3 hours behind ours). Realising that we had a three hour wait before our flight to Beijing, we spent time cleaning our teeth and freshening up. We then made our way to what seemed to be the end of the world, as we walked so far, to gate B8, which was not even open yet.
