Monterey - Pebble Beach

Hello everyone, top of the morning to you.
Dave and I have just spent two nights at Pebble Beach, Monterey. We stayed with Doug and Cathy B, family friends of Jackie and Keith (David's mum and dad) and caught the sites around the area.
Monterey is a fabulous area which hugs the rugged coast line of the pacific ocean. Dave and I had a huge day and started off at the Monterey Aquarium. The Aquarium is huge and is one of the top 5 aquariums in the world which we could tell as soon as we stepped inside the building. We saw everything from jellyfish, plankton and sharks right through to sea otters 2 of the biggest fish I have ever seen. There was a 2 tonne, 10 foot long tuna (who knew tuna grew that big??) and a sunfish which was the goofiest looking 2 tonne piece of blubber I have ever seen. I hope I haven't hurt the sunfishes' feelings but it really was a strange looking creature.
We have attached a video of the feeding of the big fish but I'm not sure you can see the size of the fish. Have a go anyway and see what you think. Check out the size of people's heads in the bottom of the frame compared with the fish.
From there we walked along Cannery Row which is famous for the sardines that were canned there but also by the novel by John Steinbeck. It was interesting but I don't think I could work as a fish canner. After that we headed for Carmel which is quite a posh area according to my sources. The beach there was beautiful and from where we were we could see a golf course. After that we walked around a shopping area and headed back to watch the sun set over the ocean. (Dad - David here - how long did you lose mum here?).
Right near Doug and Cathy's house the Pacific and Atlantic ocean currents meet which churns up the sea. Dave and I spent yesterday afternoon at sunset watching the sun go down over this pretty cool sight.
Doug and Cathy make the best food ever. Dave and I feasted on roast the first night and lamb chops cooked on the barbie the second night. And get this, Doug has a stash of vegemite for use by intrepid Australian travellers who really can't do without vegemite toast in the morning. God bless his soul.
We are heading to San Francico this morning and having 2 nights there. I'm really looking forward to it and am hoping to visit Alcatraz prison and see the Golden Gate Bridge.
