Where I stayed
Yesterday we came back from Macau and went on a tour through Hong Kong. We went up to the Peak which has panoramic views of Hong Kong and the harbour. Unfortunately it was very misty so our view was somewhat shrouded but beautiful all the same. From there we went to a fishing village in Aberdeen where we jumped on a Sampan and went for around the house and fishing boats. The boat stopped at a floating restaurant designed like a Chinese temple which holds about 3000 diners.
After that we went to a jewellry factory and shop where we got to see how jewellry is made. Of course there was the obligitory stop at the show room with plenty of sales people to convince us to buy, buy, buy.
We also went down to Repulse Bay which was absolutely stunning. It also has Hong Kong's best Fung Shui building which people apparently pay through the nose to live in. Stanley markets were next on the agenda which were interesting.
That night Dave and I caught the light show on the harbour. It's basically a heap of lights on each side of the harbour flashing in time with music blaring on loudspeakers. I really enjoyed it and I'm glad that we got to see it. It was a symphony of lights which lit up all the majo buildings which have been retrofitted with coloured neon lights. The buildings seemed to dance. The funny thing was listening to all the owws and arghhs.
Caught a drink at a local pub which set us back a fair bit. Walked through the foyer of the Penisula hotel as if we were staying at this 5 star prestigiou place. Yes, yes.
Just for your information I have also graciously decided to leave all directions to David. I have done this not because I'm bad at directions (I'm actually very good) but because I believe in peaceful relations and it will save a lot of eyerolling, sceptical looks and what David affectionately calls my"huffing".
So that's it from Hong Kong....bring on USA!
