Carnaval

Ah, Carnaval. The Spanish version of Mardi Gras... A time just before Ash Wednesday, marking the beginning of lent. Carnaval is a time to get out all your sins, naughtyness, and craziness and over indulge in all the things you will give up for lent during the 40 days of being good until Easter! Sounds fun, huh! Well imagine it when you put together a German, a French dude, a couple Italians, a Spain dwelling American chick, throw in a few north Africans, and toss 'em in a Brazilian bar in the capital of Portugal! After about 4 dinners all together the Hitler, Musilini, Bush (yes all 3 catagorized together!) jokes got a little old and a few fights almost broke out between America and France... but what an amazing weekend! Vera and I took the bus down to Lisbon for the long weekend. We stayed in an apartment with a family friend of hers (who she'd never met before) and explored Lisbon all day and night! It was a blast! We saw nearly everything you'd look for in a travel book. The castle, museums, the beach, the river, the night life district, the local living situation, the stores, shops, and restaurants, the marinas, the parks, you name it, we did it! We got back after a long 12 hour bus ride on Tuesday night. *photos coming soon.. get excited!!*
