Happy Birthday!!!! Splash!
Entry 19 of 32 | show all | print this entry |
Sunday (My birthday) started at exactly midnight. The party we were working was coming to an end. I was in the kitchen washin' up when Stu busted around the corner, midnight on the dot, screaming "Happy Birthday!!" Then dragged me around the corner behind the bar where a few shot glasses and a shotgun style bottle were lined up. "Ok, take the shot, you get 3 breaths then take the next one, then tip back this bottle." The man thinks I'm an actual piss head. The first was nice, Aftershock. Then next (Catie can you guess?) JD then the Smirnoff. Well, moping up around 1 I was a bit dizzy and feeling warm inside. Then the question, "How old are you again?" "24" "24 dunks in the lake!!!" Before I knew it Stu, George, Josh, Lewis, Luke and Gayle were all over me and I was being tossed in the freezing lake, fully clothed. Happy Birthday! Johnny sadly missed out on my abuse. So I dried off the best I could and quickly passed out in my over crowed caravan I have to leave for the airport in 3 hours!! All too soon alarms were going off and my phone was ringing non-stop "where are you? Wake up! Open the gate!!" We're goin' to Spain!!!! So here's the scenario. It's me, Mat, Mark and Les. (they are club members, who I taught to wake board, and are now my friends) Along for the ride is Lewis. He's my 14 year old son for the week. Mumma Claire has given me full responsibility for her youngest son. I'm a holiday ski momma! Then we have Buster. He's a ski club member who couldn't pass up an opportunity to cap off the season in hot weather. We all met up and left from Stanstead (mind you that's like 2 hours from the lake). A few day's later LJ will be joining us. Finally another female trooper! She's a wakeboarder and a mutual friend of Adrianne's. So, we're on our way, Ryan Air style to Seville. We rented a few cars and set off to Cordoba to unload our skis! The boys were very impressed with my Spanish. Especially when we arrived in the small village nearest the lake. It was Sunday and only the localest of local spots were open. The boys were starving so feeling right at home in Spain and forgetting that I'm a blonde haired booty shorts wearin' american girl being followed by 4 blatantly English guys, I walked straight up to the bar, squeezed in between 2 old men, asked politely for a few menus, 4 beers and coke for my kid. You should have seen the look on their faces. Priceless. Les was convinced he would have starved that day with out me. It was great. I felt appreciated. After our little lunch outing, we just chilled at the lake. It so nice to be in true summer weather.
