A couple of nights on North East Cambodia gave us a good glimse into real Cambodian life outside the main cities. The people were friendly (and less obsessed with selling you stuff) and Amy was happy because Kampong Cham is the home of many monkeys (one which we saw was tirelessly teasing some stupid dogs from up a tree) and Kratie is home to the rare Irawaddy dolphins.
Our eyes were also opened to some of the uglier effects tourism is having here. A crazy mob of hotel & bus touts actually started fighting in the street over where we should stay the night! Craziness. Fighting aside, this route took us to the Laos border.
