Back on the Trans-Sib...

After consuming two 32" pizzas (our first proper meal since leaving Moscow) we were back on the train and back on crisps, noodles and the Russian delicacy that is dried fish in a packet.
This time we shared a sleeping cabin with a French couple, Estelle & Cedric... We sought to further Anglo-French relations and generally succeeded with good banter. Fortunately, their English was better than our French! The destination was Irkutsk and Lake Baikal which we managed to get to via a dodgey cab ride and bumpy bus ride - neither of which we expected to survive. Baikal is the deepest fresh water lake in the world and bloody cold. We only managed to paddle despite the books telling us you add 25 years to your life if you swim in it. We tried the weird Omul fish (which is only found in the lake) to a back drop of breath-taking scenery and the Russian equivalent to Pete Tong...or was it Peter Kaye?
