Interview and unexpected night out!
Entry 24 of 119 | show all | print this entry |
I'm feeling SOOOOO much better! Thank goodness colds don't last very long!!
So I had the interview this afternoon. I was a bit nervous, but not about my interviewing abililty, but because of the visa issue. It's a contract position, but the length of the contract is longer than my visa, so I explained it to them to see if we could work something out. It's in their hands now. But I feel really pleased with how the interview went. Even if I don't get the position, it really is good practice for any professional interview.
I came home tonight and asked John what he was doing. He said he was going out with Alex and a couple other friends and asked if I'd like to come along. Of course I jumped at the opportunity to get out of the house and actually socialise! :) It was cool because we went to Gordon's wine bar (the oldest wine bar in London), which happens to be a very trendy place. Although we only stayed for one drink (it really is a hole-in-the-wall place, very popular, so VERY crowded), it was still fun. We ended up going to another place right up the road from the Queen! So surreal, really. I know I'd never just run into her on the street, but it's still fascinating that she just lives up the road! It was a lovely night with really good company: myself, John, Alex, Alex's American girlfriend (Maya) visiting from New York, and the boys' good mate, Andy (a media lawyer).
On the way home, John and I had a bit of a mix-up at the tube station and ended up getting on the wrong train!! So we had to get off at Camden Town and get the night bus back to Finsbury Park. Although it took longer to get home (and I was REALLY tired), it made for a bit of excitement and adventure! :)
