So I have officially completed my first week here at school!!! I took my placement exam on Tuesday to see what level of Spanish I am at currently. I placed in the intermediate 2 level, next step is hard level!!! So I was pretty happy with that!!! I started class right away after the exam. I have class M-F 9-1 for the next week and a half and then I am off for a week until the semester starts in February. Right now my classes are just basic reviews of Spanish and a little bit about the culture!! The first few days here were very difficult. I missed home alot and miss Jake alot!!! Thank god for video chat!!! That has made things soo much better because I am able to see faces and expressions and its free!! So if you have a web cam, hit me up sometime!!! Classes are just okay for now. It seems like everyone else speaks the language soo much better, especially the students from Europe, because every language besides English are all very similar!!! I am catching on quickly though!! My madre is a very sweet lady!!! She is very talkative and cooks very good meals!!! She has 2 sons, one who lives in California and another who goes to school in Malaga, a town west of Granada!! My room is huge, since I am the only one living here, and I have my own bathroom, which is awesome!!! El centro de lenguas modernas, where my classes are, is beautiful!!! The whole city of Granada is absolutely beautiful and amazing!!! It is much larger than I imagined it to be!!! Lots of traffic, lots of stores, lots of small streets in between large streets, lots of people on there scooters, lots of people out on the streets at night, lots of plazas!!! It is a crazy city with a lot happening!!! The weather is beautiful, around the 60s and a little chilly at night and in the mornings, but nothing to bad!! Last night I went out with friends for tapas!! Tapas usually starts around 8ish at night. It is food served in a very small portion, smaller than an appetizer in the states, served with a drink!! They are very cheap, for of us it was only 10 euros!! The drink of choice, like many others in the bar, was tinto de verano. It is 3/4 wine with 1/4 fanta, the pop. VERY good!!! Then a group of us went to la chupitería, in spanish is a shot!! This place was awesome!!! They had a board on the wall with over 125 different shots, from soft, medium, to very strong shots!!! The discotecas dont open until around 2, I was super tired from the whole first week, though so my night ended with the USA shot at la chupiteria!! I have been running in el parque de garcia lorca near my apartment which is very pretty!!! On Thursday I explored the city a bit and actually ended up at the entrance to the Alhambra, so that was very cool!!! Yesterday 3 other girls and myself planned our first trip!!! We are going to London and Dublin for a week at the end of this month!! I am very excited for that!!!! I love it here, but there is still a lot to get used to!!!! If you have questions or comments just post them and I will get back to you asap!!! adios!!!
