Nothing like 9 hours spent in an airport!!
Entry 3 of 50 | show all | print this entry |
When we got off the plane in Germany, around noon, the gate was outside, which didnt seem unusual because there were lots. We took a bus to the main building of the airport. It was the largest airport I have ever been in, with lots of terminals and in each terminal 40 plus gates, plus all the gates located outside. Not to forget how nice and clean the airport was too. There were lots of very expensive stores in it. It was crazy. Once inside I went to change my ticket and the guy told me that I could run to the gate to make a flight to Madrid, but it was leaving in 20 minutes. I took the chance, even though he warned me that the gate was very far away. Well it sure was considering I ran for at least 10 minutes with 2 carry on bags through the airport only to reach the security for the A terminal. It wasnt possible to make the plane now, so I again rescheduled for 8:55pm. What a boring day in the airport. There were lots of stores to look through and many places to sit, but the only thing I wanted to do was sleep because I had only slept a little on the plane. But I didnt want to leave my bags just sitting next to me, so I stayed awake.
I was soo crazy to me how almost every person around could speak 4 plus languages: German, Italian, Spanish, Dutch, and English, are the ones I heard. In the U.S. you just dont hear that!!!
Finally getting ready to leave Frankfurt, my flight is delayed again, this time until 9:30pm. I was very frustrated to say the least. This time the plane was regular size. I slept for about an 1 1/2 hours. The flight from Frankfurt to Madrid was about 2 hours 15 minutes. But now the problem was I wasnt going to have enough time to catch the bus to Granada in time before the bus station closed!!!
