Vientiane was a short stop-over for us on our way up to Vang Vieng. The small capitol of Laos is situated along the Mekong River from Thailand and vastly different to bustling Bangkok. No McDonalds or KFC in this city. Only locally owned restaurants and cafes lining busy streets of tuk-tuks and motorbikes.
Rory and I decided to take a day of rest to hit up the wi-fi bakery down the street and start downloading photos. JoMa Bakery Café serves up some delicious coffee and satisfied my hunger with a good bagel, something that's not exactly easy to find all over the world.
In the afternoon, we hired a tuk-tuk to drive us out to the Buddha Park and snapped some very cool photos of ancient stone statues. On our way back into town we tried to hire a rat to gnaw off the disgustingly hairy mole on our drivers chin, but the rats must have been congregating somewhere out of sight. I'm not exactly sure about this, but I believe it's some sort of status symbol to let the hair sticking out of your moles grow to ridiculous lengths. Not something an American would be caught dead with.
After a tasty chicken burrito and a Beerlao, we hit the sack looking forward to our next destination.
